Agro-Masz: Machinery for modern agriculture

Agro-Masz is a Polish agricultural machinery manufacturer based in Strzelce Małe. Renowned for its ongoing technological advancements in the sector, the company founded in 2006 operates nationwide and exports its products across Europe, Japan, Canada and South Africa. Its extensive catalogue includes precision planters, disc harrows, cultivators and subsoilers, all designed and manufactured in-house.

CHALLENGES

  • Deliver required components to each production line without errors.
  • Avoid delays and rising costs due to missing or excess parts.
  • Monitor inventory levels effectively.

SOLUTIONS

  • Stacker crane for boxes (miniload system).
  • High-performance pick station.
  • Easy WMS warehouse management system.

BENEFITS

  • Organised distribution to manufacturing areas and no product returns.
  • Faster processes thanks to simultaneous picking of parts for the same order.
  • Quick location of SKUs in the warehouse and accurate quantity verification.

Agro-Masz started in 2006 as a small agricultural machinery manufacturer. Headquartered in Strzelce Małe (Poland), it has built up an excellent reputation over the past 20 years on the strength of its quality products. Today, Agro-Masz machines are used in fields across Poland and exported to other European countries, Japan, Canada and South Africa. As demand for this equipment continued to grow, the company’s leadership recognised the need to modernise its logistics processes to streamline and accelerate operations.

“We knew that automation would speed up material flows and minimise picking errors,” says Paweł Nowak, CEO of Agro-Masz. The business’s main goal was to deliver the components required by each production line as accurately as possible. Previously, both shortages and surpluses of parts had caused delays and driven up manufacturing costs. Agro-Masz’s agricultural machinery is designed to operate effectively in a wide range of soil and climate conditions, meeting the needs of farms around the world. To keep up with demand, the company remains committed to optimising its operations.

After receiving expert guidance from Mecalux and visiting businesses that had implemented similar solutions, Agro-Masz was prepared to move forward with the automation system that best suited its needs.

Nearly 12,000 crates within reach

To manage its growing operations, the agricultural machinery manufacturer has implemented a stacker crane for boxes (miniload system) to house the smaller components used in its machines. At one end of the racking structure, a new high-performance pick station has enabled Agro-Masz to significantly increase the number of orders filled for production or for the miniload. Coordinating all these operations is Mecalux’s Easy WMS warehouse management system. With this software, Agro-Masz can quickly locate parts in the miniload, verify quantities and generate picking orders. The WMS also simplifies item classification via the turnover-based ABC analysis while ensuring a continuous supply of components to the production lines.

The orderly distribution of parts in this automated storage and retrieval system (AS/RS) for boxes — capable of holding nearly 12,000 crates — minimises order returns. The Polish company also highlights the user-friendliness of the Easy WMS interface, which streamlines miniload operations. At the high-performance pick station, warehouse operators can fill up to six orders simultaneously. The workstation shows them how many products to place in each crate via a light display as well as a monitor above each tote.

“The miniload AS/RS has become our company’s logistics hub,” says Nowak. Agro-Masz considers it a smart move to rely on both the automated system and WMS from a single provider. “Mecalux implements upgrades tailored to our needs and from experience, we know they won’t disrupt operations during deployment.”
