Logéos has taken a major strategic step forward with the opening of its new 36,000-square-metre logistics centre in Puceul (France). The fourth-party logistics (4PL) provider manages more than 10,000 SKUs in real time and fulfils up to 9,000 orders per day. To support this performance, the company relies on an end-to-end Mecalux solution that combines automation, advanced software and pallet racking systems.
The Logéos facility handles every type of merchandise — from small single-item orders to large outbound shipments — ensuring that each item and pallet is properly labelled and ready for delivery. “We work with multiple B2B and B2C clients, and we strive to maintain a high level of quality with every shipment,” says Thomas Maria, Logistics Operations Manager at Logéos.
Until recently, inventory management relied on fairly basic workflows. Manual spreadsheet controls and excessive dependence on the ERP system shaped daily operations. “Our processes were overdue for an upgrade,” says Maria.
Today, with the commissioning of the new warehouse, Logéos has centralised operations previously spread across multiple facilities and doubled productivity. This business transformation is supported by a state-of-the-art infrastructure tailored to each client’s needs while delivering efficiency across every process. The new site is more than just a warehouse — it is the embodiment of a logistics strategy built for the future.
Automated tote storage: Precision, speed and scalability
“We manage 10,000 SKUs sourced from France, China and Eastern Europe, fulfil up to 9,000 orders per day and dispatch 15 trucks daily to B2B and B2C customers,” says Maria. Handling this level of activity requires a solution capable of combining precision, speed and flexibility.
The new miniload system from Mecalux has become the technological hub of Logéos’s warehouse. Featuring a single 30-metre aisle, 10-metre-high racking and a capacity for 5,224 totes, the automated storage and retrieval system (AS/RS) for boxes maximises available space. At the same time, it simplifies inventory management for multiple clients with varying operational requirements.
“All goods are stored in standard miniload totes, which streamline product handling and enable FIFO inventory rotation. Automated replenishment, high-density order picking and robotic parcel sorting maintain a fast, secure flow of goods throughout the warehouse,” says Maria.
Stacker cranes move products swiftly and deliver them to two goods-to-person picking stations. Equipped with put-to-light systems, these stations accelerate fulfilment while reducing errors. Four additional workstations have been installed for order consolidation and sorting. “With the miniload AS/RS, we’ve increased the number of picking stations and improved accuracy, ergonomics and overall operational efficiency,” says Maria.
The storage system design also supports future growth. The 4PL provider will be able to expand the AS/RS by adding two aisles, tripling capacity and throughput as customer demand increases. Automation has also improved working conditions for warehouse operators. “The work is less physically demanding, employee travel is minimised, and ergonomic workstations contribute to a better working environment,” says Maria.
Easy WMS: The facility’s mastermind
Mecalux’s Easy WMS warehouse management system coordinates every process within the logistics centre, from receiving to dispatch. It ensures real-time traceability for each item and has transformed the way Logéos operates.
“With the software proposed by Mecalux, we’ve taken a decisive technological leap forward. Automation and intelligent flow management have significantly boosted our productivity,” says Maria. “The greatest strength of Easy WMS lies in its ability to centralise all our storage systems within a single interface. This allows us to consolidate information and manage our operations efficiently through comprehensive and intuitive dashboards.”
With Easy WMS, Logéos integrates picking operations in both the miniload AS/RS and the selective pallet racking, streamlining every fulfilment flow. “Reaching 9,000 orders per day reflects the level of control and performance we’ve achieved. For a multi-client logistics service provider like us, this is a major competitive advantage,” says Maria.
Digitalisation is further strengthened by specialised Easy WMS modules designed to provide flexibility and adapt to each client’s needs.
- Multi-Carrier Shipping Software optimises packing and dispatch operations to reduce errors and accelerate delivery times.
- Slotting for WMS strategically organises inventory locations throughout the warehouse to streamline picking.
- WMS for 3PL personalises workflows for each client, improving inventory control, traceability and service quality.
“Thanks to the various Easy WMS modules from Mecalux, we’ve centralised and optimised all our logistics operations, from receiving and storage to shipping and returns. The system provides precise inventory counts and effective management through clear, dynamic dashboards,” says Maria.
A strategic partner for growth
According to Maria, the Mecalux project has transformed Logéos’s operations and positioned the company for future growth. “We’re extremely satisfied with the comprehensive Mecalux solution. It’s raised our productivity, reduced picking errors and adapted perfectly to our needs. For us, Mecalux is a strategic partner that will support our growth and logistics ambitions in the years ahead.”
