The Mecalux Group has increased its Research+Development+Innovation activities in 2010, investing a total of six million euros. The company filed ten technological patents this year, including industrial and software patents; the majority of which are in force in Spain and waiting to be validated on an international level. Mecalux aims to maintain this activity in the coming years, by filing an average of ten patents per year. Thanks to the company’s in depth knowledge of the market, it is able to design and create solutions that meet the market’s needs, as well as promote, manage or provide the maintenance service for the product. Mecalux has a total of twenty-eight patents in force and has obtained one hundred and fifty since the company was founded.

Internationally successful Mecalux software: the EasyWMS®
As well as the industrial patents, Mecalux promotes the design, creation and implementation of its own software. Thanks to its versatility and features, the most successful software has been the EasyWMS®, which was created in 2006 as a warehouse management solution. Since then, it has been implemented in approximately one thousand locations in the sixteen countries in which the company operates.

This software controls the flow of products in a warehouse in real time, providing excellent stock management and a permanent inventory, fundamental to any business strategy and for maintaining competitiveness. EasyWMS® is already the top-selling warehouse management software in Spain. In 2011, Mecalux hopes to increase the workforce at its Technological centre in Gijón, Spain to one hundred employees, to respond the international development needs of this software.
