MECALUX appoints as a new independent board member Eduardo Montes, current Senior Vicepresident in Siemens AG
He replaces Juan Poch, who will hold the position of Advisor to the Presidency
Eduardo Montes, current Senior Vicepresident in the German multinational Siemens AG, will be appointed new Independent Board Member by MECALUX. Eduardo Montes will hold the position left by the lawyer Juan Poch, who will be appointed Advisor to the Presidency, in recognition of his contribution to the development and success of Mecalux. An objective of the appointment of Montes is to support the rapid Mecalux internationalisation process. The Group is noticeably increasing its international presence and market share in addition to its plans to buy the American firm, UFC Interlake, in 2008.
The appointment of Eduardo Montes will take place through the cooptation procedure and it should be ratified at the next Shareholder’s Meeting.
Eduardo Montes, 55 years-old, is currently Senior Vice-President in the German multinational Siemens AG. Montes shares this responsibility with his position as Chairman of the Administrative Board in the Spanish subsidiary. Montes started working at Siemens in 1975 and after seven years in the company he began a new phase where he held different positions in companies and public organizations related to telecommunications, after which he returned to Siemens, in 1995. In May 2006, he began on the Siemens AG Managing board as Senior Vice President and he was appointed CEO of the Communications Division, the Siemens Group’s largest division globally. Since 2007 he has been a member of the Nokia Siemens Networks’ Board of Directors and President of the Siemens Enterprise Communications’ Supervisory Board.
In addition, he is the President of the Excellence in Management Club, Excellence in Sustainability Club and President of the Innovation, Technology and Development Committee in the Business Circle. Moreover, Eduardo Montes has been awarded in recognition for his professional achievements (“Enterprise Leader of the Year” by the business magazine “Ejecutivos”, “Best Businessperson of the Year” by AT Kearney, “Executive of the Year” by the magazine “Actualidad Económica”) and for his personal commitment (Knight Grand Cross of the Order of Merit in the Federal Republic of Germany).
