The Polish food manufacturer will build a high-capacity automated warehouse to optimise rolled oats storage and distribution
Melvit, a company specialising in the production of food products such as cereals, legumes and flours, is set to install a suite of automated solutions from Mecalux at its Kruki plant, near Ostrołęka (Poland). The project aims to streamline product flow between production and shipping, apply the FIFO (first in, first out) principle across all operations and maximise storage capacity.
The warehouse will primarily store packaged rolled oats, one of the main products manufactured at Melvit’s new facility, which produces large volumes of cereals every year. “This inversion is designed to ensure peak efficiency in handling and storing products in different packaging formats,” says Sławomir Kamiński, Chairman of the Management Board at Melvit. “The racking system enables safe and organised storage of large volumes while maintaining full control over the flow of goods.”
The Mecalux-designed solution features an Automated Pallet Shuttle system connected to a semi-automatic Pallet Shuttle variant via automated pallet conveyors and elevators. Both storage solutions will be managed by Mecalux’s Easy WMS warehouse management system, ensuring highly coordinated operations and end-to-end product traceability.
Melvit is confident that Mecalux’s solutions will boost efficiency and reduce operational errors. “Automation and the Easy WMS warehouse management system will enable us to plan logistics processes more accurately and shorten order fulfilment times,” says Kamiński.
Melvit also aims to utilise space ergonomically and efficiently while fully integrating the warehouse with production. “Automating and digitalising our processes represents a decisive step towards the future. This investment will streamline our daily tasks and position the company for sustained long-term growth,” says Piotr Szczęsny, Chairman of the Supervisory Board at Melvit.
