ProMat 2011 expected to boost North American market for Interlake Mecalux

08 Feb 2011

Interlake Mecalux will exhibit in Booth 2012 at the Material Handling Industry of America’s most comprehensive international trade show, ProMat 2011. This event is scheduled for March 21-24 at the McCormick Place South Convention Center in Chicago. The 2,200 square foot high tech booth will showcase the company’s long career in the field of warehousing and logistics. Its focus for this show is on traditional racking, automation and software. The company's primary objective is to provide solutions more directly and effectively to customers in the NAFTA area.

A strategic market for Mecalux
The NAFTA area, already one of the most important for the Mecalux Group, is expected to account for 50% of sales in 2011. This is a result of the major increase in North American sales in 2009, which reached 130 million USD. Due to the integration of personnel, production and products from the asset purchase of Interlake Material Handling, Mecalux is anticipating the combined operations of Interlake Mecalux to maintain and enhance this positive trend. Geographical diversification is a strong asset for the company to sustain growth during the current global economic climate.

Interlake Mecalux has five technological production centers serving North America: Melrose Park, IL – 391,000 ft2; Pontiac, IL – 415,000 ft2; Sumter, SC – 250,000 ft2; Tijuana, Mexico – 378,000 ft2; and Matamoros, Mexico – 154,000 ft2.
