Mecalux will automate the Schaeffler Iberia warehouse with an automated warehouse for boxes

24 Jul 2017

Schaeffler Iberia, an automotive and industrial sector supplier and a subsidiary of the Schaeffler Group on the Iberian Peninsula, will gear up for business with an automated miniload warehouse that has a capacity of more than 5,100 boxes in its Guipuzcoa centre (Basque Country, Spain).

The automated miniload warehouse consists of three double-depth aisles. In each of them, a 4.1 m high stacker crane will circulate, which will incorporate two, double-depth extraction systems. Each stacker crane will be capable of handling two KLT boxes weighing up to 65 kg each. A circuit of conveyors installed at the front of the warehouse will connect the warehouse with production lines on one side, and with the dispatch area on the other.

Within the supply, the Mecalux Easy WMS warehouse management system will be implemented and put in permanent connection with the customer's ERP to exchange orders and information, aiming for the maximum improvement of warehouse throughput.
