Normandy, France is the home of Didactic, the leading supplier of sterile medical devices to the French market. As a growing company, it required increased storage capacity.

Franck Mabeau - Logistics Manager Didactic
Didactic is a strong, burgeoning company and we found our storage capacity bursting at the seams by 2014. We arrived at 92% capacity and needed to expand.

Mecaux designed a customised project for Didactic, combining pallet racking with the semi-automatic Pallet Shuttle that works with the FIFO (first in, first out) and LIFO (last in, first out) systems.

The result: a total capacity of 11,000 pallets.

Franck Mabeau - Logistics Manager Didactic
Thanks to Mecalux we have increased our productivity and storage capacity.

Didactic is a company with a high volume of pallets per SKU and immense loading and unloading activity.

With the Pallet Shuttle, the load moves towards the operator, optimising their movements and increasing warehouse productivity.

A locking system with electromagnets located on the base of the shuttle ensures its attachment to the forks and allows for safe handling.

Unloading can be carried out in single units or continuously, by selecting an entire channel or a certain number of pallets.

The system has options to compact the goods at the entrance or in the back, besides making it possible to take inventory of the pallets in the channel.

A positioning camera facilitates insertion and centring manoeuvres of the Pallet Shuttle in the channel; very useful in high-rise installations.

An acoustic and light signal pinpoints the selected shuttle.

The Pallet Shuttle can operate up to 10 hours straight thanks to its lithium batteries, which can be easily and safely replaced.

Franck Mabeau - Logistics Manager Didactic
Mecalux has contributed to the success of the project, respecting the assembly planning and providing training on the operation of the Pallet Shuttle, so that we were able to start using it quickly.

With the design and assembly of this solution tailored to its needs, Mecalux helped Didactic take a step forward: to ensure its growth and optimal storage, handling, and delivery of healthcare products.
