OnRoute is transforming its business model to support growth and attract new clients. The company was formed through the integration of Talaexprés, Logística Carosán, Futrans and Transnugón. It recently implemented Mecalux’s Easy WMS warehouse management system in its facilities in Talavera de la Reina (Toledo) and Sagunto (Valencia). The software ensures traceability of 650 SKUs, mainly food and consumer packaged goods.

With Easy WMS, the third-party logistics (3PL) provider has complete visibility into the status of its clients’ goods. For each SKU, the company records details such as origin, owner, exact location and storage requirements. By identifying every product upon receipt, OnRoute has achieved nearly 99% inventory accuracy, minimising discrepancies between system inventory and physical stock.

Raising the bar for 3PL services

In digitalising its three warehouses, one of OnRoute’s priorities was to strengthen its capabilities as a logistics provider. “We were looking for a digital tool that could support our development,” says Germán Monedero, OnRoute’s Chief Business Development Officer. “By adding traceability features and making it easier to uniquely identify every item, we can adapt to sectors that require tighter product control, such as pharmaceuticals and cosmetics.”

Mecalux’s software not only supports OnRoute’s current operation but is also ready to evolve as the business grows. “Easy WMS is a modular system that can expand its capabilities to meet future needs. For example, if we work with e-commerce retailers, it can connect with platforms such as Shopify, Magento or WooCommerce and integrate with carriers to optimise last-mile delivery,” says Monedero.

The company has also deployed WMS for 3PL, an Easy WMS module that enables it to provide a more transparent service. “This digital solution helps us manage our clients’ logistics operations end to end and gives them greater visibility into their processes,” says Monedero.

OnRoute has enhanced WMS for 3PL with two additional features. 3PL Client Portal automates communication with inventory owners to keep them informed of any changes in their stock status. Meanwhile, 3PL Billing records warehouse activities and links them to the applicable rates and clients.

Greater productivity in every process

OnRoute’s three warehouses operate at a fast pace. Together, the facilities handle nearly 3,000 inbound and outbound pallets daily — the equivalent of about 80 truckloads. “Easy WMS has helped us organise and structure our processes. With this system, we’ve shortened the time between receiving products and dispatching them,” says Monedero.

The WMS has also increased productivity by guiding warehouse operators through their work. They receive clear instructions on RF devices, eliminating ad hoc decisions and ensuring every task is performed consistently. “Order fulfilment is now 25% faster,” says Monedero.
