The new facility is located at the same plant where Mecalux had already installed an automated warehouse for raw materials, further strengthening Conservas Cerqueira’s operational efficiency through automated solutions.
“Automation will give us more accurate control over product locations and greater agility in inbound and outbound flows. In addition, the Easy WMS warehouse management system will guarantee full product traceability,” says Antonio Otero, Administration Manager at Conservas Cerqueira Rianxo.
The latest facility is equipped with the Automated Pallet Shuttle. This automated storage and retrieval system (AS/RS) will store preserved food packaging, supporting the daily production of one million tins. Measuring 134 m long by 11 m high, the AS/RS will hold over 5,000 Euro-pallets. The structure will also accommodate American (GMA) pallets, offering greater operational flexibility. With the Automated Pallet Shuttle system, Conservas Cerqueira will optimise space and streamline in-house product movements.
Mecalux’s Easy WMS software will coordinate all logistics operations, ensuring strict inventory control. Thanks to this solution, Conservas Cerqueira will manage its goods in real time and maximise workflow efficiency.
“We chose Mecalux as our storage solution provider because we’ve been working together for many years; we know first-hand how it operates and its expertise in AS/RSs,” says Otero.
