New tools for managing reports in Easy WMS

Independently create, modify and publish reports

Greater agility and control in warehouse management operations

Easy WMS’s report management capability allows users to design, modify and publish their own reports independently, without requiring specialised training or relying on assistance from Mecalux’s technical staff.

This update delivers tangible benefits that simplify and streamline day-to-day warehouse management:

• Greater agility. Reports can be created and customised in minutes.
• Greater independence. Users no longer need to rely on third-party requests to generate or edit reports.
• Greater control. Users decide which reports to publish and which other users to share them with.

Three new tools integrated into the user interface support automatic report generation: the report manager, report designer and query editor.

Report manager

The report manager provides a single list of all available reports — standard and/or user-created — and enables users to manage them comprehensively:

• Create reports from scratch and customise them using the report designer.
• Edit report names and descriptions.
• Clone existing reports to save time when creating different versions of the same document.
• Publish and unpublish reports with full control, sharing them only with selected users.

Report designer

The report designer is a canvas where users place the fields containing the information they want to display and define the report layout. The tool features simple, intuitive controls designed for end users without programming knowledge:

• Labels and text: Titles, headers and static text.
• Data fields for displaying values linked to query results.
• Images and logos of the organisation or clients.
• Detail tables for repeated records in a list.
• Header and footer bands with page numbers and dates.
• Text boxes, lines and rectangles for arranging content visually.
• Preview of the results.

Query editor

The query editor allows users to select and organise the data that will populate reports.. Users build queries using a range of visual elements. There is no need to write SQL code or program to perform these operations:

• Select data from one or more tables.
• Apply filters using common operators (equals, greater than/less than, contains, etc.).
• Sort, group and apply aggregate functions (sum, minimum, maximum, average and count).

The queries are then used as the data source in the report designer. The editor includes:

• Built-in validation to detect errors in the query design before it is saved.
• Parameter definition, with values entered when the report is run — a date range, a specific order, a particular date, etc. — to filter the results.
• Query-building assistance to help users identify Easy WMS entities, their fields and the available operators. Users can search and filter as they type, so there is no need to memorise technical names.
• A tester that displays the LINQ expression automatically generated by the editor from the query. It also shows the data returned by the query before it is finalised for use in the report designer.
