Best Practices 28: automation and digitisation in the supply chain

10 Apr 2023

Digitisation and automation are the standout solutions for boosting the supply chains of organisations in any sector. Issue No. 28 of Best Practices magazine shows how companies from several countries have benefited from equipping their logistics facilities with the latest technologies.

In France, for instance, the material handling and lifting equipment company Manitou Group has modernised its logistics processes with the Shuttle System and high-performance pick stations to facilitate the picking of 500 order lines an hour. In Slovakia, IKEA Components has automated its manual warehouse without disrupting its operations. Likewise, in Spain, the footwear brand Gioseppo has overhauled and automated its facility to house 1.6 million units of shoes and fill 3,500 orders a day during peak season. And in Colombia, the household appliance company Electrolux has digitised its warehouse with Mecalux’s Easy WMS software to ensure the traceability of 250,000 items in real time.

This issue features an interview with Professor Yeming Gong of the Emlyon Business School on the advantages of AI in warehousing.

Lastly, this latest issue of Best Practices contains technical articles on the potential of ChatGPT in the supply chain, the benefits of disruptive logistics, and how warehouse digitisation and automation help pharmaceutical companies to ramp up their throughput.
