Würth Modyf adapts its logistics to omnichannel with the Easy WMS warehouse management system
How was Würth Modyf able to boost its growth and prepare over 1,500 orders a day during its peak season?
Würth Modyf is a Spanish company specialising in workwear, corporate uniforms and safety footwear.
Würth Modyf reassessed its logistics strategy because of the massive increase in sales we saw from 2015 to 2021, going from a turnover of 3 million to just over 20 million euros. We needed logistics software that would work in a more automated, more controlled way, with a completely different type of management strategy. In the end, after weighing several offers, we chose Mecalux, essentially because their proposal was the best fit.
And also based on the recommendation of our colleagues at Würth Spain, since they had installed the same software in a warehouse for pallets that they have in Agoncillo.
Würth Modyf moved to a new, 8,000-square-metre facility where Mecalux’s Easy WMS software manages all goods.
In addition to the WMS, Mecalux equipped the warehouse with pallet racking and picking shelves.
Our facility is an omnichannel warehouse. This software from Mecalux enables us to take care of our shops as well as our end customers and online orders.
As soon as the material enters the facility, it’s under control, thanks to Easy WMS. And when we scan all these goods, the software tells us which part should go to picking and which part to allocate to the reserve product. All our goods and everything else that enters our facility are monitored by the system.
In terms of order picking, we use Easy WMS to group orders. We perform picking with PDA scanners. The moment you choose the order grouping to prepare, the system guides you through the different aisles to collect the materials and take them to the picking table.
The Mecalux software has three additional modules that add new functionalities to adapt warehouse operations to business changes: Supply Chain Analytics Software, Multi Carrier Shipping Software and Labor Management System.
The Multi Carrier Shipping module provides us with all the information and labels for our dispatches. It also communicates all shipping information to each carrier. And this makes it easier to control shipments, from the time they leave the facility until they reach the customer.
I’d recommend the Mecalux software to all businesses operating manually that want to work more automatically. It’s especially helpful for ensuring total control over stock as well as real-time traceability of the movements that products make in the facility. It also increases warehouse productivity and reduces picking errors.
With the Mecalux software, we’ve met our initial objectives, and we believe we can even go a bit further than we’d anticipated. Needless to say, we’re happy with our decision.
